03 : About me

Sohaan Chhabra

Hey! I’m Sohaan. If you know me from school or tuition, you’ve probably seen me with a drone or a bot in hand. I love building stuff—whether it's robots, websites, or custom tech setups—and figuring out how to make them smarter.

I made this website to share some of the things I’ve built over time. It’s not just a list of projects, but more like a digital journal of the tech I’ve explored and the challenges I’ve enjoyed solving.

I enjoy being part of competitions, mentoring juniors, and always trying to one-up my previous builds. Below are some of the highlights from my journey so far—

🏅 My Highlights

WSRO Drone Challenge Champion (2023 & 2024):
I bagged 1st place two years in a row at WSRO by designing drones that were fast and could dodge obstacles with ease (after hours of crashing in practice, of course).

IIT Delhi Autonomous Drone Challenge Winner:
This was a big one—competing against college teams, I built an autonomous drone that could pick up stuff with an electromagnet and then drop it at a designated location. Winning the ₹1.5 lakh prize pool at 17 still feels surreal.

WRO Mentor – 3rd Place:
I mentored a WRO team that came 3rd nationally. Our EV3 bot could navigate tough missions, and I handled the strategy, coding, and sensor tuning.

Tech-Head of School:
As Tech-Head, I run workshops, train juniors, and help organize robotics and coding events. It’s fun helping others learn and watching them improve.

School Intra-house Competitions:
I’ve won a bunch of school events in coding, 3D design, web dev, and even fireless cooking (don’t ask how that happened).

Stuff I’ve Built:

  • LEGO EV3 bots with PID line following (with two color sensors).
  • Bluetooth-controlled 4WD bots using ESP32 and Arduino.
  • EV3 car controlled via PS5 joystick—left stick to move, right to steer.
  • Raspberry Pi + webcam + speaker to detect stuff and speak back.

Mini FPV Drones:
I’ve built and tuned a few micro drones using Betaflight. I even programmed one to do flips on button press—still perfecting it, but it works!

Cinematic Stuff:
For a school event, I used my DSLR to shoot and edit a cinematic video as part of our CIFI team. Really enjoyed putting the visuals together.

AI Assistant (built with Gemini API):
I made my own AI assistant that can answer questions, generate code, send emails, and help with daily tasks. It’s like my sidekick during projects.

Tools I Use:
Python, HTML, CSS, JS, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Betaflight, Pixhawk, OpenCV, EasyEDA, SLAM, and voice chatbot stuff.

What I'm Building Now:
- A low-cost open-source drone controller (₹2.5k target)
- A self-driving car for WRO Nationals using Pi, sensors, and map tracking on a 10x10 ft mat

👀 Outside the Code

I get super excited by new tech—especially drones and dev boards. I like editing videos, watching drone races, and tinkering with electronics late at night (sometimes too late).

If you're checking this out, feel free to reach out if you spot bugs or just want to talk tech!
